The invention relates to a feed device for document shredders with which it is possible, due to the use of a forward feed element having spine-like drivers which engage positively in the paper located on the feed table, in conjunction with a stripper, to feed the paper automatically and in a metered manner to the cutting mechanism. By this means, optimum exploitation of the capacity of the document shredder is achieved with minimal operator effort.
