PURPOSE:To prevent generation of a jam of paper money, what is called jamming, in the course of a money reception processing work, by eliminating the paper money carrying is bad, in advance from a carrying route. CONSTITUTION:A primary inspecting part 23 is installed between a separating drum 4 and a feeding roller 24 being in the nearest position from the separating drum 4, and constituted of a paper width/paper length detecting sensor 25 which has been provided on the upstream side in the carrying direction of paper money 2, and a thickness detecting sensor 26 which has been provided on the downstream side. On the downstream side of the primary inspecting part 23, a bypass switching means 31 for separating the paper money having a bad carrying condition, which has been detected by the primary inspecting part 23, from a main conveyor 5 is provided, and the bypass switching means 31 is provided with a turning shaft 31a, a switching plate 31b and a guide drum 31c, in the same way as a passage switching means 9, and the paper money whose passage has been switched to the guide drum 31c is joined to a money paying conveyor 20, and stored into a money paying stacker 22 from the money paying conveyor 20.
