PURPOSE:To enable a press mold to be immediately heated at prescribed press temp. after releasing a glass molded article from the mold and to enhance productivity by forming a mold-release device separately from the press mold. CONSTITUTION:A glass stock 1a heated at prescribed temp. is sent on a lower mold 8 heated at prescribed press temp. and thereafter an upper mold 7 is guided by a drum mold 9 and descended to press the glass stock. After pressing it, the upper mold is ascended and then an attraction plate 2 is touched on the curved surface of a glass molded article 1 by means of ascent of the lower mold 8 and attracted by vacuum via a vacuum source, and a holder 4 is driven on a hole 6c for falling of a chute 12 and the glass molded article 1 is allowed to fall into the chute 12. Heating of the press mold is immediately started after the glass molded article 1 is released from the mold and thereafter the above-mentioned action is repeated. Since the press mold can be immediately heated at prescribed press temp. after releasing the glass molded article from the mold, productivity can be enhanced.
