Alkali carbon and sulphide recovery from pulp prodn.

Recovery of alkali carbonate and sulphide from waste lye comprises injecting the lye into one end of a cylindrical reaction chamber using a mainly tangential air supply. The lye is pyrolysed and vaporised and the alkali in the pyrolysis residue is converted into sulphide. The cylindrical reactor chamber produces a flow pattern which includes tangential, axial and radial components. There are two flow pattern zones which enable the reaction time to be extended. Used for the recovery of alkali carbonate and sulphide from concd. lye from pulp prodn. (Provisional Basic previously notified Week E19)
