PURPOSE:To obtain a low-cost optical fiber cable having excellent bending performance by coating a clad consisting of a metallic film having adequate ductility on the outside surface of the core of glass or transparent plastic. CONSTITUTION:The optical fiber cable is obtd. by coating the clad 3 consisting of the metallic film of aluminum, etc. having adequate ductility on the outside surface of the core 2 made of the glass or transparent plastic. The material of the clad 3 is not limited to aluminum and may be the metallic film having adequate ductility. Since the clad consisting of the metallic film having the adequate ductility is formed to a so-called specular surface state in the above- mentioned manner, the rate of light transmission is increased and the bending performance is improved. The improvement of a power distribution operation is attained as well.
