A process and equipment for producing perforated heating briquettes of paper and other combustible organic waste products is described, wherein the starting material in a preferably homogenised form is intimately mixed with sewage sludge, and the resulting deformable mixture is pressed in pressing tools fitted hedgehog-like with pins to give briquettes perforated through, so that atmospheric oxygen can penetrate everywhere to the fractions of fermentable sludge particles, thus initiating the bacterial activity which heats the pressed compacts to 55-65 DEG C, sterilises them and converts them into odourless heating briquettes which are absolutely dry right to the core, are readily storable and have an unlimited shelf life.
