PURPOSE:To easily treat perlite without causing dust pollution by mixing cement and a trace amt. of a bulder into granular perlite, adding water, and press- forming the mixture into a solid to reduce the volume. CONSTITUTION:Cement and a trace amt. of a builder for promoting a binder effect are added to granular perlite recovered from cryogenic device, etc., and premixed. Water is added to the material, and the mixture is formed into a granule coated with cement and the builder and having about several mm diameter. The granulated material is charged into a mold, press-formed, and then released from the mold to obtain a reduced-volume molded article. Consequently, the splash of granular perlite is controlled, dust pollution can be prevented, waste disposal is facilitated without necessitating too large a space, and further the product can be handled as a low-grade building material.
