The mechanism for moving sheets etc. in mutually overlapping formation from an upper to a lower surface such that they are turned upside down comprises endless transport means such as belts or cables (10). The upper sheet support surface is formed by parallel shafts (4) which have axially spaced annular grooves for the cables (10) and stub ends (5) either side each supported on the outer race rings (6) of two ball bearings (7) carried on central bolts (8) in the respective side members (2) of the support. Plates (3) may be arranged between adjacent shafts to form slide supports for the cables. ADVANTAGE - The arrangement minimises friction between sheets and supporting surface as the sheets are stacked and spread thereon, prevents lateral movement of the belts or cables, and ensures continuous transport of sheets without damage.
