PURPOSE:To eliminate the positional deviation of an image to form high definition color image even if the speed of a driving roll is varied,by setting dimensions of an electrostatic latent image area of each color formed on a belt-shaped photosensitive body to integer-fold peripheral length of a photosensitive body driving roll. CONSTITUTION:An R image formed on a belt-shaped photosensitive body 6 moving in the direction of an arrow A by the first exposure is developed as a C image by a cyan developing device 9c, and an G image is developed as an M image by a magenta developing device 9m, and a B image is developed as a Y image by a yellow developing device 9y. The belt length between transfer points X and Y and transfer points Y and Z is b+l+a, where l is the length of each latent image area on the photosensitive body and (b) is the length of inter-area spaces and (a) is the length is between transfer points X, Y ad Z. If a transfer paper 10 is carried at a certain speed, transfer deviation does not occur; and therefore, l+b is set to integer-fold peripheral length of a driving roll 7i, and exposure of an optical image to the photosensitive body 6 is synchronized with rotation of the roll 7i. Thus, image deviation is eliminated by repeating exposure at the rotation period of the roll 7i to obtain high definition color image even if the speed of the roll is varied.
