PURPOSE:To enable a sequence of recovery operations simply through entry of symbols using a switch key and prevent poor ink discharge at an ink discharge port by actuating a recovery device consisting of a cap adhering to the ink discharge port, an air valve which opens/closes the interior of the cap to atmosphere and a suction pump to generate a negative pressure in the cap in a single cycle sequence of each step. CONSTITUTION:A recovery circuit to prevent poor ink discharge from a recording head is provided with a cap 22A-22D adhered to an ink discharge port, an air valve 47 which opens/closes an atmosphere in the cap 22A-22D, and a suction pump 46 which generates a negative pressure in the cap 22A-22D. The recovery device is actuated in a single cycle sequence of each step. The sequence is as follows: adhesion of the cap 22A-22D to the ink discharge port 1A-1D, closing of the air valve 47, actuation of the suction pump 46, opening of the air valve 47, initialization of the suction pump 46, actuation of the suction pump 46, initialization of the suction pump 46, closing of the air valve 47, separation of the cap 22A-22D from the surface of the ink discharge port 1A-1D, opening of the air valve 47, initialization. |
