PURPOSE:To improve the cooling efficiency of an AC generator for a vehicle by feeding coolant to a passage formed between a cover for liquidtightly surrounding the end of a stator coil and front, rear brackets and the vicinity of a bearing, and mounting a rectifier on a cooling cover attached to the outside of the rear bracket. CONSTITUTION:Both ends of a stator coil 11 are liquidtightly surrounded by a case 24, and annular coolant passages 32a, 32b are formed of the back of the case 23 and front, rear brackets 26, 30. Coolant is also fed to an annular recess 26a formed near a bearing 14 at the side of the bracket 26. A cooling cover 33 is mounted on the outside of the bracket 30 to form a passage 32c, a rectifier 16 and a voltage regulator 17 are mounted at the outside, a protective cover 35 is coated, and a heat sink fin 33a is provided inside the cover 33. Coolant is branched from a cooling system of an engine, fed from a pipe 27, fed through the passages 32a-32c, and returned to the cooling system of the engine from the pipe, not shown. Thus, cooling efficiency is improved to small size, and noise is reduced.
