PURPOSE:To simplify the production process of an optical shutter element by burning a laminated body consisting of green sheets to be ceramic substrate and metal films for internal electrodes and connecting metal layers consisting of said metal films every other layer to form power supply electrodes. CONSTITUTION:The metal film 11 for the internal electrode is formed on the green sheet 10 to be the ceramic substrate displaying an electro-optical effect after burning so that a non-adhering part is formed on one end face side and the green sheets 10 are laminated by adhesion or through the non-adhering parts and sintered. Then, power supply electrodes 15 consisting of Ni are sticked to a pair of laminated end faces or surfaces on which the internal electrode layers 13 of the laminated and sintered body 12 are exposed every other layer and the optical shutter element 20 is formed by slice working Or, it is also possible to form the layers 13 on the whole surfaces of the sheets 10, coat the end faces every other layer and then form the electrodes 15 on the end faces. Consequently, the optical shutter element 20 reduced at its driving voltage and transmission loss can be produced by a simple process and the productivity can be improved.
