A lipstock case comprising a holder 7 for the lipstick 11 and a cap 12 has a sleeve 13 on the cap which when the cap is in position shown in Fig. 1 pushes the holder down to the bottom of the case, and when the cap is removed and inserted in an opening 4 at the other end of the case pushes the lipstick up against a shoulder 3 at the top of the case. The case may be of a plastic or of metal, including a precious metal. In another embodiment, the holder has lobes 16 engaging recesses 15 in the inside of case to prevent the holder turning with respect to the case. A removable collar 18 which is a friction fit or has a screw thread or a bayonet catch may be provided so that the lipstick and holder can be changed. The collar can have recesses corresponding to the recesses 15 in the case and be rotatable to allow the holder to be changed. A spring inside the case 1 may urge the holder into its forwrad or retracted position. The cap 12 and the sleeve can be retained in the case by a bead on the sleeve having a friction fit with the shoulder 3 or by screw threads on the sleeve and shoulder.
