PURPOSE:To measure the amount of erythropoietin (EPO) with a high accuracy in a shorter time without complicated operation, by using an insoluble support coupled to a specific antibody against EPO. CONSTITUTION:An antibody tended to react specifically with EPO is coupled to the surface of an isoluble carrier such as spherical polystyrene by emmersion into a proper solvent to form an antibody support. An isotope or the like is used as material for labelling EPO and the concentration of EPO in a liquid to be inspected, for example, in blood is measured by comparison with the calibration curve prepared for EPO of a referance concentration. The calibration curve is prepared by counting the isotope coupled to the antibody support immersed in a constant amount of liquid containing varying specified amount of a reference EPO to plot the ratio B/B0 between the counts B0 without the presence of non-labeled EPO and the counts B in the presence of non-labeled EPO with respect to the amount of non-labeled EPO.
