PURPOSE:To remarkably improve the spectral sensitivity characteristic from a visible light region to a near IR region and more particularly >=900nm wavelength light by providing a vapor deposited lead phthalocyanine layer on a base coat layer. CONSTITUTION:A soln. prepd. by dissolving a polyester resin in a solvent mixture is dip coated on a conductive aluminum substrate 11 cleaned by vapor of a trichloroethylene and is dried to form the base coat layer 12. The lead phthalocyanine is put into an aluminum crucible in a vacuum deposition device and an electric charge generating layer 13 is formed by vapor deposition on the base coated conductive aluminum substrate 11. The polyestere resin is then spin-coated on the charge generating layer 13 and is dried to from an electric charge transfer layer 14.
