<p>An intumescent-ablator fire retardant material consists of a structure having two or more layers (2, 4, 5, 6), the external layer (2) having a higher melting temperature or temperature of dehydration than the other layers and comprising, an inorganic salt and a binder. The inorganic salt may be chosen from Al2(SO4)3 . 16-18H2O, AlNH4(SO4)2 .24H2O, KAl(SO4)2 . 12H2O and MgSO4 . 7H2O, and the binder from natural rubber, neoprene rubber, silicone rubber, polyester resin, epoxy resin, phenolic resin and hydraulic cement.</p> |
