PURPOSE:To uniformize useful lives of heat generating elements and enhance useful-life properties of a thermal head itself, by a system wherein recording data supplied to the heat generating elements are shifted in a recording line direction by an amount corresponding to the recording data supplied to a single one of the elements, each time a detection signal is outputted from a recorded line detecting part. CONSTITUTION:When recording on one page of a recording paper 13 is finished, the completion of recording is detected by a recorded line detecting part 7, which outputs a detection signal. The detection signal is inputted to a recording data shifting circuit 5, a one-line amount of data read from a memory circuit 4 by a gradation pattern generator 3 are shifted in a recording line direction by an amount corresponding to a single heat generating element T1 by the shifting circuit 5, and the shifted data are supplied to a shift register SR in a driver circuit 8. As a result, a recording-starting position on the paper 13 is shifted in the recording line direction by an amount corresponding to the left end heat generating element T1. Those of the heat generating elements T1-Tn+3 which are operated for recording dots with particularly high recording frequency in picture elements P1-Pm are sequentially shifted in the recording line direction due to the shift of the recording data. Accordingly, the frequencies with which the elements T1-Tn+3 are respectively driven for recording are uniformized, and useful-life properties are also uniformized. |
