PURPOSE:To keep the shape of a shadow mask always constant while reducing convergence error phenomenon simply and efficiently by providing a process of depositing the shadow mask on the outside of a mask frame while keeping the mask frame in the heated and expanded state. CONSTITUTION:The inner diameter of the skirt part 7b of a shadow mask 7 is large than the outer diameter of a mask frame 8 about by 5mm. When the mask frame 8 is heated to be expanded to the state shown by a solid line 8a, the diameter of the mask frame 8 is enlarged like 8a due thermal expansion so that the inner diameter of shadow 7 may become almost equal to the outer diameter of the mask frame 8. In this state, the shadow mask 7 is welded to the expanded mask frame 8a. After the shadow mask 7 is welded to the expanded mask frame 8a, the mask frame is cooled. Thereby, vibration of the shadow mask is suppressed to make it possible to manufacture the shadow mask having little convergence error on a screen by a simple method and good efficiency.
