In order, in the case of a bumper which has a pronounced arrow shape in particular, is composed of a supporting part fitted to the body and having foamed material, which is covered by a lining, placed in front of it, and is received by means of a mount which penetrates the said supporting part and prevents slipping off, to ensure the reliable absorption of the shock resulting from collision with a central barrier, the mount takes the form of an upright profiled strip. The latter extends into the middle of the motor vehicle, following the front limiting edge of the lining, at least until it reaches the vicinity of the lining, then extends to the supporting part and is supported by the latter, while being guided in slots, in the region of a transverse support which is connected to the supporting part.
