In this process, in which a television camera and an electronic evaluation unit connected to it are used to determine the angular position of the object to be detected, the object is rotated relative to the camera, so that it is represented as a rotating image on the photoelectric transducer of the camera. The output signal of the camera is differentiated, or split into a plurality of frequency ranges. For a complete rotation a signal curve proportional to the energy content and characterising the object is obtained for the differentiated signal or for each frequency range. Maxima and minima in this signal curve are used for calculating the angular position of the object. <IMAGE>
