The invention relates to a machine for harvesting plants of the type with tuber, bulb, pivoting root or the like. This machine comprises a frame carrying at least one cutting blade 6 and one lifting blade 9 and is characterised in that it comprises, on the one hand, immediately upstream of the lifting blade 9, a horizontal rotor 11 equipped with flexible blades or fingers 12 driven in rotation in the same direction as the wheels of the machine, and, on the other hand, immediately downstream of the lifting blade 9, a plurality of horizontal rotors 13 equipped with fingers driven in rotation in the opposite direction to that of the wheels of the machine and arranged so as to engage and dislodge the earth strip 10 lifted by the lifting blade, said rotors 13 being arranged in the form of a rising cascade for the purpose of throwing the plants onto a conveyor band 15 having grooves parallel to said rotors 13 and feeding a crop container 18.
