PURPOSE:To measure the accurate capacity by adding the distance to the wall surface and measuring the capacity using a reflection type distance measuring instrument and reducing the influence by a difference of various conditions. CONSTITUTION:Ultrasonic waves are transmitted from a transmission part 7 and the ultrasonic waves reflected on the wall surface existing in the transmitting direction are received by a reception part 8 and the time from the time of transmission to the time of reception is measured by a time measurement part 9 and the distance to the wall surface is calculated by a distance arithmetic part 10 from the time. Next, a driving means 11 turns the ultrasonic distance measuring instrument 6 and changes in order to the ultrasonic wave transmitting direction. Next, an addition part 13 adds the distance to the wall surface in the prescribed each direction inputted from the distance arithmetic part 10 and outputs it to a constant multiplication part 14 which calculates the product of the output of the addition part 13 and a predetermined constant and approximates it as the size of a chamber. In this way, the accurate capacity can be measured with being hardly influenced by the temperature, material of the wall surface, etc.
