The proposed filter which can be introduced into a fuel container, has an elastic framework composed of a thermoplastic. The framework supports an elastic permeable plastic filter cloth. The filter further has a connection piece (2) for the fuel pump and for the fuel line. The connection piece (2) faces the fuel filler opening arranged on the container. The fuel enters from the exterior through the filter cloth into the interior of the filter and is passed on from there through the connection piece (2). The ratio of the height of the filter to its maximum width is 1:3 to 8. The connection piece (box 3) for the fuel line is arranged centrally and is firmly attached to the framework. The framework is composed of elastic, radially-running shoulders (5) and ribs (6) which are arranged in the central area of the filter and are firmly attached to the cloth and the elasticity of which increases from the centre of the filter body towards the filter rim. <IMAGE>
