PURPOSE:To retrieve information with high efficiency by using a frequency mark adding means which adds the marks to one or both of the desired information and the index information in response to the selecting frequency stored in a selecting frequency memory means. CONSTITUTION:When a reading button 9 is pushed, a signal control circuit 5 reads the list items out of a memory 6 and displays them on a display device 7 via a display device drive circuit 8. Here the device 7 displays a telephone directory, an address book, a list of documents, etc. Then a telephone directory, for example, is selected by means of an information selecting button 10 and therefore some names are displayed on the device 7. Thus one of these names is selected with the second operation of the button 10. In such a way, a desired telephone number is displayed. The selecting frequency of each information selected by the button 10 is stored in a memory 11 via the circuit 5 and at the same time a mark is added to the desired information in the memory 6 by a frequency display adding circuit 12 in response to the selecting frequency. Thus it is possible to obtain quickly the information having a high selecting frequency in a retrieval mode.
