PRETREATMENT FOR DISPOSAL OF SPENT RESIN

PURPOSE:To separate only cationic resin adsorbing a high radioactive nuclide and to simplify treatment by separating spent resin into anionic resin and cationic resin and storing these for a short period to damp these. CONSTITUTION:In pretreatment for disposal of spent resin polluted by radioactivity in an atomic power plant or the like, pure water or air is firstly introduced through an inlet pipe 7 from the lower part of a separator 2 by opening a valve V2 and the stirring of resin incorporated in the separator 2 is performed and pure water or air is discharged through an outlet pipe 8 of top part via both a screen 9 for preventing discharge of resin and a valve V3. Thereafter when the valves V2, V3 are closed and the separator 2 is allowed to remain stationary, resin is separated into an anionic resin layer and a cationic resin layer by gravity. In such a way, a small amount of cationic resin adsorbed with a high radioactive nuclide is separated and both treatment and administration of spent resin are simplified.
