A copolymer binder emulsion prepared by the copolymerization of vinyl acetate, 1 to 30 wt% ethylene and 0.5 to 15 wt% acrylamidoglycolic acid. Nonwoven fabrics bonded with such copolymers possess properties comparable to that obtained using N-methylolacrylamide-containing copolymers but without the emission of formaldehyde.
