PURPOSE:To constitute the whole unit in a compact size, by providing an opening and closing valve in an intake passage, which curves in a U-shape from the upper part of a cylinder head reaching an intake port, and driving the opening and closing valve by an actuator arranged in curved space of an intake pipe curved in a U-shape. CONSTITUTION:An engine main unit 1 connects a resonance intake pipe 11, arranged in the upper part of a cylinder head 4, with an intake port 16 by an intake pipe 8 curved in a U-shaped. A opening and closing valve 17, which controls a swirl, is provided in the intake port 16 and driven by a negative pressure-operated actuator 19 through a link. The actuator 19 is arranged in curved space A of the intake pipe 8 curved in a U-shape. In this way, the unit is formed in a compact size by eliminating a protruding part of the actuator.
