发明名称 METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR COPPER BATH COAL GASIFICATION
摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain a purified gas substantially free from sulfur, by forming a copper path at the bottom of a converter or the like and blowing coal, oxygen and steam through a lance provided at the central portion of the over into the oven to gasify the coal. CONSTITUTION:A copper bath 10 is formed at the bottom of a converter 1, and coal 4, oxygen 5, and steam 6 are blown into the oven through a lance 3. This causes the coal 4 to react with oxygen 5, thereby forming carbon monoxide. Further, the heat generated by the reaction causes the steam 6 to be decomposed into hydrogen and oxygen. The oxygen is then reacted with the coal to form carbon monoxide, which is recovered as a purified gas 7 together with the above-formed carbon monoxide. In this connection, sulfur contained in the coal 4 is brought into contact with the copper bath 10 to form CuS. Since the CuS thus formed remains in the copper 10, the purified gas 7 is substantially free from sulfur. When the sulfur content of the copper bath 10 reaches a predetermined concn., the blowing of the coal is stopped, and only oxygen is blown into the oven, which makes it possible to recover the sulfur contained in the copper bath 10 in the form of SO2 for use as a starting material of sulfuric acid.
