PURPOSE:To obtain an electroconductive composite membrane inexpensively, by contacting an aqueous solution containing an oxidizing agent with an aniline vapor through a thin polyolefin film as a diaphragm. CONSTITUTION:An aqueous solution (cell 1) containing an oxidizing agent is contacted with an aniline vapor (cell 3) through a thin polyolefin film as a diaphragm 2. Examples of the polyolefin include a homopolymer or copolymer of an olefin such as ethylene, propylene or 1-butene. Examples of the oxidizing agents include chromium-containing oxidizing agents, manganese-containing oxidizing agents and transition metal halides, and, if necessary, they can be used in the form of a mixture with a proton acid such as hydrochloric acid or tetrafluoroboric acid.
