PURPOSE:To decrease the influence of after fluorescent light by using a specific stimulable phosphor as an essential component for a radiation image conversion panel. CONSTITUTION:The alkali halide stimulable phosphor expressed by the formula is used as the essential component for the phosphor layer 104 of the radiation image conversion panel 103. In the formula, MI denotes Li, Na, K, etc.; MII denotes Be, Mg, Ca, etc.; MIII denotes Sc, Y, La, etc.; X-X'' denote halogen; A denotes Eu, Tb, Ce, etc.; 0<=a<0.5; 0<=b<0.5; 0<c<0.2. The radiation transmitted through a subject 102 or generated from a specimen is absorbed in the panel 103. Exciting light 111 of 500-900nm is then irradiated to the panel 103 so that the panel emits the stimulated light which is detected by a photodetector 107. The quantity of the after fluorescent light is decreased and since the need for standing-by time by the after fluorescent light is eliminated according to the above-mentioned method, the reproduced image having a good SN ratio and high quality is obtd.
