<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology which extracts a part additionally written specified by additional writing in a document original and can store it in preparation for various use purposes. <P>SOLUTION: A controller 11 extracts an additionally written image from an additionally written document indicated by image data inputted to an inputting unit 13, and specifies an image region having a predetermined positional relation with the additional writing image. Further, the controller 11 extracts the additionally written image data arranged in the specified image region, and stores them in a nonvolatile memory 12 according to the color of the additional writing image. Thus, the controller 11 separates and stores the image data to be additionally written from the image data of the additionally written document. Thereby, for example, a retrieval process or a display process can be performed only for the image to be additionally written.
