PURPOSE:To prevent a diamond sintered body from being broken or chipped by feeding a wire electrode from the different metal side when machining a combined work of a different metal and the diamond sintered body. CONSTITUTION:When a combined work 1 of a diamond sintered body 2 and a different metal 3 is to be discharge-machined, a wire electrode 4 is fed for machining from the different metal 3 side, i.e., from the direction A, contrary to the conventional method. Accordingly, the highest voltage of the wire electrode 4 is applied to the different metal 3 to discharge-machine it, and next the diamond sintered body 2 is discharge-machined. Therefore, the diamond sintered body 2 is put in the same condition as to be discharge-machined at the low voltage and can be easily machined without being broken or chipped due to a load of the high voltage, and the different metal 3 can be efficiently discharge-machined.
