PURPOSE:To measure accurately the top-level of concrete, by controlling velocities of dropping weight by a reeling machine, allowing it to drop at a specified velocity and measuring the load change. CONSTITUTION:A measuring device is constructed of weight 14 dropping from above the placed concrete, load meter 18 detecting a load acting on the weight 14 through a wire 16 and reeling machine 20 that winds up and down the wire 16. A controller 32 for selective use of an automatic measuring system confirms a position of the weight 14 from the reading of an encoder 28 and if it is found in the specified position, the encoder 28 is set to zero. Next, setting load and depth of the reeling machine 20 are set for starting winding operation. Detected value of the load meter 18 and depth by the encoder 28 are recoded and when an indication of the load meter 18 reaches the set value, the winding-down motion is suspended. And, the reading of the encoder 28 is recorded as the top level position of concrete. Next, the reeling machine is allowed to wind up to the set depth. Above action is repeated several times and a mean value is obtained.
