PURPOSE:To control and set automatically the working environment of an OS in response to the operating situation of the OS, by defining the larger one of both values obtained by multiplying the maximum recorded value by a prescribed margin factor set previously and the value set on a resources control table as the allocated value of the system resources to the OS. CONSTITUTION:A start means 2 first refers to the log data 5 when an operating system OS1 is started and checks the maximum value so far used for each of various system resources 10 to multiply this maximum application value by a margin factor set previously. Then the value thus obtained is compared with the set value on a resources control table 3 and the larger one of both values is defined as the application area of the OS1. Thus a new working program, for example, works and the work area of the OS1 is increased. While the margin of the system resources allocated to the OS1 is reduced. Thus the resources 10 are allocated to the OS1 in consideration of situations despite such fluctuations of the system operating state. In such a way such an unexpected case where the system working is stopped due to insufficiency of resources can be prevented.
