PURPOSE:To exclude erroneous operation and the unclearness of the boundary with a sensing area and to prevent functional deterioration and an electric leakage, by using two optical fibers different in an outer diameter and rings to provide function as a pressure sensor and temp. compensating function. CONSTITUTION:An optical fiber mat main body 1 is constituted of a lower protective member 2, a pressure-sensitive optical fiber 3 having an outer diameter D1, a temp. compensating optical fiber 4 having an outer diameter D2 and an upper protective member 5, and a control circuit box 6 is mounted to said mat main body 1 and resin rings 13 and mounted on the fiber 3 at a constant interval. Both fibers have the relation of D1>D2. When pressure P due to the person walking on the mat main body 1 is present, said pressure P is applied to the fiber 3 through the upper protective member 5 and a core is deformed to change light transmitting characteristics. The fiber 4 generates no change in light transmitting characteristics.
