PURPOSE:To provide a cholesterol-lowering substance composed of wheat bran having particle size smaller than a specific level, having excellent activity to decrease cholesterol level in blood and applicable safely without lowering the physiological action such as prevention of constipation. CONSTITUTION:For example, wheat bran is washed with water, dried in air, crushed and classified. A fraction having a particle size finer than 60 mesh is collected and used as the objective substance for lowering cholesterol level. It is administered orally preferably in the form of a solid, however, it may be used as an additive for food. The effect can be increased by increasing the administration dose. It can be administered extremely safely without causing side effect.
