ADAPTIVE GAIN COMPRESSOR SURGE CONTROL SYSTEM

A main surge control line is established at a preset distance from the compressor surge line and a control point identified on this. A feed forward control signal of a process variable is established which may cause a surge condition in the centrifugal compressor. These signals are summed to provide an anticipatory surge control line offset from the main line, in proportion to the feed forward control signal. A bypass control is connected to the summing unit to change the bypass across the centrifugal compressor. A control station can vary the load requirements of the compressor.
