PURPOSE:To prevent the damage of a magnetic head or a magnetic disk due to an absorption phenomenon between the head and the disk, by sliding the magnetic head in a seek direction according to the measurement of humidity in the neighborhood of the magnetic head and the magnetic disk, and also, changing a distance to be slided. CONSTITUTION:A control circuit 7, when receiving the driving signal of a spindle motor 1, checks the output of a humidity detector 8, and when the output detects a value below a certain level of humidity, it drives the spindle motor 1 as it is by a motor driving circuit 6, then rotating a disk 2. If a detected humidity exceeds the certain value, a carriage 4 is driven by a servo circuit 5, and a head 3 is moved before driving the spindle motor 1. Furthermore, when the value still exceeds the certain value, the distance to be driven is increased, and the control circuit 7 rotates the spindle motor 1 by the motor driving circuit 6 after an operation to increase the distance. In this way, no influence is given on the head or the disk, and it is possible to prevent an accident due to absorption. |
