PURPOSE:To suppress tape squeaking and tape wrinkling, to improve runnability and to execute good high-density recording by incorporating magnetic metallic powder having >=1,250oersted coercive force, carbon black having 50-150mmum average particle size and silicone oil into a magnetic layer. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic metallic powder having >=1,250oersted coercive force is preferably used in order to thoroughly decrease noise and to execute satisfactory high-density recording. The carbon black having 50-150mmum average particle size is preferably used as the carbon black to be used in combination in order to decrease the friction with a magnetic head on the surface of the magnetic layer and to improve the runnability in the case of using the magnetic metallic powder having >=1,250oersted coercive force. The silicone oil to be used in combination with the carbon black is preferably used in a 0.06-0.25wt% range by the weight of the magnetic metallic powder.
