PURPOSE:To hold a sufficient quantity of data by using a variable name of the same format as general variables to define a common variable shared between different programs and expanding and reducing dynamically the storage area and holding the common variable even after programs are erased. CONSTITUTION:When a common variable definition statement of a program is executed, a common variable area 4 is searched, and a new variable name and a space for the variable value according with its data form are reserved if there is no variables having the same name. If a variable is defined already with a variable name having the same format as general variables when this variable is referred in the program, the variable in the area 4 is used. When execution of the program is terminated, the area 4 is held as it is though a program storage area 2 and a general variable area 3 are cleared. Thus, variables in the area 4 can be used in case of execution of the next program, and the storage area is expanded or reduced dynamically and the storage area is expanded or reduced dynamically and is held even after erase of programs to hold a sufficient quantity of data.
