A quick-change chuck, e.g. for drills for automatic tool change, is proposed, comprising a chuck body with an inner receptacle in which a coaxial tool carrier with an engagement body can be accommodated, which can be axially locked therein via at least two transverse bolts running along a secant and held in a displaceable manner. The transverse bolts are carried in sloping transverse slots so that the ends project on both sides, while a centre section projects into the receptacle and, when a tool carrier is inserted, snaps in a locking manner behind a sloping face of the engagement body with seating secured free of axial and radial play. The transverse bolts are forced radially inwards by axial spring pressure onto the ends. On the other axial side, an axial annular surface of a control sleeve displaceably held on the chuck body bears against these ends. Balls on the chuck-body side serve to transmit torque. The balls engage in recesses with engagement-body grooves open axially in the insertion direction.
