PURPOSE:To easily discriminate the propriety of an electronic part at high speed by using illuminating means capable of projecting light in any direction and light collecting means capable of receiving light in any direction. CONSTITUTION:A pin 11 is assumed to be bent by an angle phi from the vertical line V to the pin 11 and a plane (p) in contact with the side portion 11a or the pin 11 is considered. A tangential plane P is inclined along the direction of incident light 6 by an angle theta from the vertical line V. Since the side portion 11a of the pin 11 is of cylindrical configuration, reflected light 7 with an elevation angle 2theta relative to the incident light is obtained as shown. When the elevation angle 2theta is equal to the setting angle alpha of the optical fiber bundle 5 of light collecting means 2, the reflected light 7 is collected by the light collecting means 2. In this case, when the bend angle # - or + of the pin 11 is equal to alpha/2 or above, the reflected light 7 reaching the light collecting means 2 is obtained as the information indicative of the bend of the pin 11.
