NEW MATERIAL:A benzimidazole compound of formula [n is 1-3; A<n+> is Li<+>, Na<+>, K<+>, Mg<2+>, Al<3+> or N<+>R4 (R4 is 1-4C alkyl)]. EXAMPLE:2-(2-Dimethylaminobenzylsulfinyl)benzimidazole sodium salt. USE:Antiulcer agent. It has excellent safety. PREPARATION:For example, the compound of formula I can be produced by reacting the compound of formula III with the compound of formula IV, converting the resultant compound of formula V to the compound of formula II and reacting the compound with a base of formula A<n+>.
