<p>PURPOSE:To prevent clogging of filter and improve purifying effect by collecting the carbon minute particles in exhaust gas through a filter and burning the particles in an electric heater. CONSTITUTION:Midway on the exhaust pipe of an internal combustion engine, a carbon minute particle purifying apparatus 4 is installed which is equipped with an exhaust gas inlet port 7a and an exit port 7b. Inside the apparatus, a honeycomb structure 8 made of ceramic is arranged to collect the carbon minute particles in exhaust gas. At the rear end part of the structure 8, a nichrome wire 11 is arranged, and when this wire is brought into conduction at proper times, the minute particles caught by the structure 8 are burnt. Further, on the rear flow side of the nichrome wire 11, a glass filter 17 is arranged, and thus perfect purification is performed.</p> |
