PURPOSE:To produce an amorphous mineral fiber composite material, having good adhesivity and coated with a metal, by dipping amorphous mineral fibers in an aqueous solution of a mineral acid to etch the surfaces thereof and chemically plating the fibers. CONSTITUTION:Amorphous mineral fibers, e.g. a product under a tradename 'ASANO CNF', etc., are dipped in an aqueous solution of hydrochloric acid in about 0.9wt% concentration at room temperature - 80 deg.C for 10-180min and the surfaces of the amorophous mineral fibers are etched to form fine unevennesses thereon. The resultant fibers are then plated with a metal by an ordinary chemical plating method.
