PURPOSE:To increase machining speed, by coating the core member with zinc base alloy including both or either of Bi and Pb. CONSTITUTION:An electrode wire for wire-cut electric discharge machining is formed from a core member 1 of conductive, high tensile strength material and a coating 7 of zinc base alloy including both or either of Bi and Pb spread over the surface of the core member 1. By the described arrangement, the machining speed by wire-cut electric discharge machining can be increased, the breakage of the electrode wire due to a short between the same and the work during the machining decreased, and the depositing of the electrode material on the work surface reduced. |
