The photometer has an illuminating block (4) which can be mounted on the microscope instead of the luminaire (lamp housing) and which contains two exchangeable filters and a chopper (5) which modulates the two component beams, which pass through the filters, simultaneously but at different frequencies. Two narrow-band amplifiers PSD1 and PSD2 which can be tuned to the two frequencies of the chopper (5) are arranged in a parallel circuit in the detecting channel. <IMAGE>
