摘要 PURPOSE:To reduce the degree of occurrence of cutting edge chipping and peeling phenomena to be produced during metalcutting as well as to aim at the prolongation of tool life, by diversifying a cutting edge form of a sintered diamond tool for cutting fine ceramics. CONSTITUTION:A fine ceramics cutting sintered diamond tool is provided with a polygonal cutting edge, namely, a cutting angle (theta) 4 in a side cutting edge line angle 1, a front cutting edge line angle 2 and a nose part cutting edge line angle 3 of a sintered diamond layer 7. Therefore, the degree of occurrence of cutting edge chipping, especially a peeling phenomenon to be produced during cutting is extremely reduced. For example, in case of cutting fine ceramics of an oxide system in Vickers' hardness 1511, when cutting speed is set to 25m/min, 50m/min and 100m/min, feed rate to 0.025mm/rev. and infeed rate to 0.05mm, respectively, a tool having a polygonal cutting edge is extremely tardy in its wear progress even in case of any cutting speeds.
