PURPOSE:To obtain the titled machining fluid having excellent stability and flowability, by polymerizing an ethylenically unsatd. monomer in the presence of water and a particular water-soluble polymeric compd. CONSTITUTION:100pts.wt. water (A) is mixed with 1-150pts.wt. water-soluble polymeric compd. contg. in its constitutional units at least one functional group selected from among an ether group, a hydroxyl group a carboxyl group (e.g., polyethylene glycol) or a mixture of 10wt% or more polymeric compd. with an other water-soluble polymeric compd. thereby obtaining a mixed aq. soln. 1-150pts.wt. ethylenically unsatd. monomer (e.g., acrylic acid) in such an amt. as will provide a weight ratio thereof to component B of 10-1:1-10 and optionally a water-soluble radical initiator are added to the mixed aq. soln., followed by reaction at 10-100 deg.C, preferably 40-70 deg.C for 3-10hr. If necessary, a nonionic surfactant, an inorg. salt, and an org. solvent are added to the reaction product to obtain a water dispersion of a water-soluble polymeric composite. The dispersion is diluted with water to obtain the titled machining fluid. |
