PURPOSE:To economize a decoding circuit by obtaining an error location equation as required in the decoding processing of a data comprising the t-digit error correction reed solomon code. CONSTITUTION:The titled system is a processing system obtaining the error location equation of the t-digit error correction read solomon code. The method of mutual division is applied to x<3t+1> and a polynomial S(x)Xx<t+1>+1, where S(x) is a syndrome polynomial. The error location equation is obtained from a remainder when the number of orders of the remainder is smaller than (t). A unit circuit 15 is used for the operation and the required number of unit circuits 15 are connected in series, and coefficients of the polynomial x<3t+1> and the polynomial S(x)Xx<3t+1>+1 are inputted to A,B registers 1,2 respectively in the 1st stage unit circuit 15. Thus, the decoding circuit is economized.
